Musk rumours spark Liverpool ownership chatter

Rumours linking tech billionaire Elon Musk to a potential bid for Liverpool Football Club have stirred discussion, but Fenway Sports Group (FSG), the club’s current owners, have dismissed the claims.

The speculation began after comments from Musk’s father, Errol Musk, during an interview. “Oh yes, but that doesn’t mean he’s buying it. He would like to, yes, obviously, anybody would want to. So would I,” Errol Musk said. He declined to elaborate further, stating, “I can’t comment on that. They’ll raise the price.”

FSG swiftly addressed the rumours, with a spokesperson categorically stating, “No truth to these rumours.”

FSG president Mike Gordon reiterated the group’s dedication to Liverpool, emphasising their focus on the club’s long-term growth.

“Our long-term commitment to Liverpool remains as strong as ever,” Gordon said. “We have always said that if there is an investment partner that is right for Liverpool, then we would pursue the opportunity to help ensure the club’s long-term financial resiliency and future growth.”

Adding a nostalgic twist to the story, Errol Musk revealed a family connection to Liverpool, mentioning ties to The Beatles. “We were fortunate enough to know quite a few of the Beatles because they grew up with us – my family,” he said.

Despite the rumours, FSG’s firm denial suggests Liverpool’s future remains secure under their stewardship.
