Everton sack Sean Dyche before FA Cup win

Everton Football Club has sacked manager Sean Dyche just hours before their FA Cup third-round match, which they won 2-0 against Peterborough United at Goodison Park.

In an official statement, the club confirmed Dyche’s dismissal alongside his coaching staff, including Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard, and Billy Mercer.

“Everton Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as Senior Men’s First Team Manager with immediate effect,” the statement read.

“The process to appoint a new manager is under way, and an update will be provided in due course.”

Until a new manager is appointed, Under-18s Head Coach Leighton Baines and Club Captain Seamus Coleman will take charge of first-team affairs on an interim basis.

Despite the managerial turmoil, Everton secured a confident 2-0 victory over Peterborough. Beto broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute, while Iliman Ndiaye added a second with a stoppage-time penalty, advancing the team to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Everton’s dominance in the match was clear, as they controlled 54% of possession, created 13 shots compared to Peterborough’s five, and completed 559 passes with 88% accuracy.

Fans now eagerly await updates on the club’s managerial plans as Everton aims to balance Premier League survival and their FA Cup campaign. For official updates, visit the Everton FC website.
