The St George Illawarra Dragons have announced the signing of versatile back Daniel Atkinson on a three-year contract starting from the 2026 NRL season.

A Brisbane native, Atkinson began his NRL career with the Melbourne Storm, debuting in Round 25 of the 2021 season. He later joined the Cronulla Sharks in 2023, where he showcased his skills across multiple positions.

Atkinson also represented Italy in the 2022 Rugby League World Cup, delivering standout performances in three matches. His international experience adds depth to his impressive resume as a rising star in the league.

The soon-to-be 24-year-old recently completed a strong season with 19 NRL appearances, scoring five tries and assisting in four others.

“We’re really happy to be welcoming Daniel to the club in 2026,” said Dragons Head Coach Shane Flanagan.

“He’s a classy player who has shown an ability to cover multiple positions as well as a strong competitor who will come in and improve our squad as a whole.

“We have a big year ahead with a squad which will improve further in 2025 and look forward to welcoming Daniel for the 2026 season.”

The Dragons see Atkinson as a valuable addition to their roster, bringing versatility and a competitive edge to the team. With his ability to play across various positions and a proven record at both club and international levels, Atkinson is poised to make a significant impact when he joins the Dragons.
