Salah’s contract talks spark incredible form

Liverpool manager Arne Slot believes the uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future at Anfield is enhancing the forward’s exceptional performances. Salah, out of contract at the season’s end, has already delivered 12 goals and 10 assists under Slot’s tenure.

Liverpool’s talisman expressed disappointment over not receiving a contract renewal after his double in Sunday’s 3-2 win over Southampton. Despite the ongoing speculation, Slot insists Salah’s focus remains on the pitch.

“Mo is in a great place right now,” Slot said. “If anything, these situations seem to bring out the best in him.”

The 32-year-old Egyptian is among three Liverpool stars whose contracts are set to expire, alongside Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Both have drawn interest from top European clubs, but Slot praised their professionalism and commitment.

“They’re all focused on training, games, and what’s next,” defender Andy Robertson said. “They’ve shown true leadership this season.”

Liverpool sits atop the Premier League and leads their Champions League group heading into a massive week. The Reds face reigning champions Real Madrid on Wednesday, aiming to end an eight-match winless streak against the Spanish giants. On Sunday, they host Manchester City in a Premier League showdown that could shape the title race.

“Games like these are special,” Slot said. “Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Manchester City have dominated football for years, and we’re proud to compete at this level.”
